DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University football team is ranked in a 2018 national Division III preseason poll as the Aggies are 10
th in the
Street & Smith's college football preseason publication.
DelVal is the lone Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) school in
Street & Smith's Top 25. Correspondent M.D. Goens said of the Aggies:
"The task at Delaware Valley is to build on last year's 12-win season, which ended in the national quarterfinals. Six players are set to return on offense and three on defense, but departures on both lines must be addressed. Quarterback
Dashawn Darden is back for his fourth year as a starter, as are defensive ends
Christian Snowden and
Vincent DiLeo."
DelVal is coming off a 2017 season that saw the squad notch a 12-1 record, which included a perfect 10-0 regular season and a MAC championship. The Aggies opened the NCAA playoffs with wins over Western New England and Husson to reach the quarterfinals for just the third time in school history (2004 and 2005). They then dropped a last-second 31-28 decision to Brockport.
DelVal's first opponent for the 2018 campaign, Wesley College, is ranked eighth by
Street & Smith's. The Wolverines reached the second round of the NCAA playoffs where they fell to Brockport, 49-28.
The Aggies, who have defeated Wesley to kick off each of the last two seasons, will make the trip to Dover, Delaware for the '18 opener on Friday night, August 31 (6 p.m.).
