WILKES-BARRE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's tennis competed at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championship and had two Aggies reach the quarterfinals.
Junior
Chloe Dennerlein and freshman
Miller Huertgen advanced past the opening round at third and fifth singles respectively. Dennerlein had a walkover in her first round before 6-1, 6-0 to top-seeded Francesca Valera-Seri of Wilkes University in the quarterfinals.
For Huertgen, the rookie posted a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Kelsey Ulzheimer of Manhattanville College in her first-ever conference tournament match. That put Huertgen against third-seeded Elizabeth Drda of Lebanon Valley College and Drda had a 6-0, 6-1 triumph.
Freshman
Aubrey Errickson competed at first singles where she fell 6-3, 6-2 to Amber Achenbach of DeSales University. Senior
Allie Vaccaro won three games in the first set in a loss to Lizza Gonzales of Manhattanville at number two singles. Sophomore
Erin Volov dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Emily Wilczek of Lebanon Valley at fourth singles while junior
Nicki Fox fell in straight sets to Brooke Dorsey of FDU-Florham at the sixth spot.
Friday's doubles action saw the three Aggie teams fall in the first round. Errickson and Vaccaro dropped an 8-1 decision to Gonzales and Renay Charley of Manhattanville at first doubles while Dennerlein and Volov were bested by Julia Paraboschi and Cassandra Boldt of Arcadia University, 8-3, at No. 2. In third doubles play, Fox and Huertgen fell 8-2 to Misericordia University's tandem of Kayla Rembish and Nicole Jones.
