MADISON (NJ) – Coming off the biggest win in program history, the Delaware Valley University women's tennis team hit the court less than 24 hours later and suffered an 8-1 loss at Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe FDU-Florham in the season finale.
The Aggies finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 5-8 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the MAC Freedom. The one win in league play came in Saturday's 5-4 thriller over King's College, the first conference triumph in the three-year history of the program.
The doubles' tandem of
Laken Henry and
Allie Vaccaro picked up the lone victory for DelVal as they cruised to an 8-2 decision over Serina Grande and Mia Capozzoli. Vaccaro and Grande also squared off in singles action and Grande came away with the 6-2, 6-3 win. Henry had a three-set battle against Amelia Vetto and dropped a three-set heartbreaker, 6-3, 3-6 and 10-7.
Natalie Hoffman and
Megan Stanley won five games in doubles' action while
Chloe Dennerlein and
Melanie Mayhew took three at third doubles. Hoffman and Mayhew each won five games in singles' play while Dennerlein and Stanley took four and two respectively.
