Chloe Dennerlein picked up the lone victory of the afternoon for the Delaware Valley University women's tennis team as the Aggies dropped an 8-1 decision at Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Eastern University.
The Eagles improved to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in league contests while DelVal fell to 3-6 and 0-4.
Dennerlein, a freshman, improved to 7-3 on the season in singles play as she downed Emily Thomas, 6-3, 7-6 at sixth singles. The tiebreaker went 7-5 in favor of Dennerlein in the second set.
Allie Vaccaro had a three-set battle with Lauren Good and the final set went to a tiebreaker, but Good pulled out the 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory at number two singles.
Laken Henry took five game in an eight-game pro set loss to Olivia Weaver at fifth singles.
The doubles matches – all eight-game pro sets - were all closely contested. Dennerlein and
Megan Stanley fell 9-7 at third doubles while Henry and Vaccaro won five games in their setback at the second spot.
Natalie Hoffman and
Melanie Mayhew dropped an 8-6 decision at first doubles.
The Aggies will host Penn State Abington for a non-conference match on Tuesday, April 18 (3 p.m.).
