Aggies Triumphant Over Visiting Rosemont College, 12-4

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University used a 9-0, second-half spurt to defeat visiting Rosemont College, 12-4, in a non-conference matchup.
 
The victory improved the Aggies to 4-3 overall as they head into Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play beginning next Wednesday, April 5 when they travel to Manhattanville College for a 4 p.m. game. The loss dropped the Ravens to 3-5.
 
DelVal got on the board first in this one when Dylan Brasch buried a pass from P.J. Rafferty, two minutes, 46 seconds into the contest.
 
The Aggies controlled the tempo for much of the first half, outshooting Rosemont 23-7 and holding its opponent to just six clears on 17 attempts. However, the Ravens scored two goals separated by just 17 seconds and used a 2-for-2 effort in man-up situations to take a 3-2 lead after 30 minutes.  
 
DelVal's second-half run was sparked by a goal from Matthew Laurence off a feed from Jordan Smith a minute, 45 seconds into the stanza. Less than a minute later, it was Laurence finding Smith to give the Aggies the lead for good. Brasch then scored his third and fourth goals of the contest to make it a 6-3 game heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Smith picked up his fourth point of the game when he set up Nick Shendge with 9:40 left in regulation. DelVal scored four more goals over the next two and a half minutes, 30 seconds and Chris Johnsen notched his second of the year in the final minutes to seal the 12-4 victory.
 
The Aggies held the Ravens to 11 shots (eight on goal) and forced them into 34 turnovers including a 12-for-28 effort on clear attempts. Meanwhile, DelVal fired off 56 shots (29 on goal) and were solid on clear attempts going 17-for-22.
 
Brasch (four goals) and Smith (one goal, three assists) each finished the game with four points. Matt Brady added two goals and an assist for three points while Laurence (one goal, one assist) and Shendge (two goals) notched two points apiece.
 
Reigning MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year Danny Smith scored his second goal of the season and led the team with five caused turnovers while going 2-for-2 on face-offs and picking up six ground balls. Alex Hardy also had six ground balls. Nic Brown and Gavin Yingling split the game in goal with Brown getting the start and Yingling playing the second half. They combined for four saves.
 
Rosemont was led by Bowe's two goals and five ground balls. Brunson and Ben Koszelak each tallied and Anthony Bottoms picked up an assist. Dan Bowden led the defense with two caused turnovers. Cassius Christie made 17 saves in goal.
