CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Delaware Valley men's lacrosse dropped a 20-2 decision to DeSales on Wednesday afternoon on the road.
The Aggies fell behind 5-0 before Peter DelRossi got Delaware Valley on the board with 5:00 remaining in the first quarter. Luca Aliano recorded the assist on the score. The Bulldogs responded quickly, scoring off three consecutive faceoffs and adding another following a DelVal turnover to take an 8-1 lead after one quarter.
DeSales added another goal 1:30 into the second before DelRossi put a shot on goal that was turned away. A few minutes later, Ashton Benkwitt forced a turnover that led to Danil Didden finding the back of the net with 9:52 remaining in the half.
The Bulldogs added five more goals before halftime as goalkeeper Daniel Hickling stayed busy, making 15 saves through the opening 30 minutes.
The Aggies managed just one more shot on goal the rest of the half as DeSales locked in defensively. Delaware Valley's other scoring chance came with 4:28 left when Kirean Schneider hit the post. Hickling totaled 35 saves in the 20-2 defeat.
With the loss, the Aggies fall to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in MAC Freedom play. Delaware Valley returns home Saturday, April 18, to host FDU-Florham.
