Box Score ASTON (PA) – Neumann University scored two goals in the final 15:07 to break a 2-2 tie and down visiting Delaware Valley University, 4-2, in a non-conference game.
The Knights improved to 2-0 on the young season while the Aggies fell to 0-2.
DelVal got its first tally of the year just 9:32 into the contest as junior
Kara Imes pounced on a rebound off a penalty corner shot and beat Neumann goalkeeper Caitlyn Johnson. It stayed a 1-0 contest for the next 16 minutes until the Knights put pressure on with three straight shots. Aggie freshman
Rosie Bishop stopped the first two, but Julia Mustin scored on the third opportunity.
Neumann took its first lead early in the second half on a Chelsea Kulesza tally, but DelVal responded with 21:21 to go as junior
Carlie Baldus took a pass from freshman Alex Aguilar on a penalty corner attempt and blasted it in.
The Aggies then appeared to regain the lead as they put the ball in the net on a penalty corner, but it was called back on a high stick. The Knights came right down the field, got a corner opportunity of their own and scored off it on a goal by Colleeen Hoy. Mustin added the insurance tall with 2:23 as Jessica Harrell picked up her third assist of the contest.
Neumann held advantage of 19-8 in shots and 9-6 in corners. Bishop finished with eight saves in the loss.
DelVal will have its home opener on Tuesday, September 6 (4 p.m.) when it hosts Gwynedd-Mercy University.
