Field Hockey Falls to No. 25 Stevens on the Road

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Delaware Valley University field hockey team faced a tough challenge on Saturday morning, falling 7-0 to nationally ranked No. 25 Stevens Institute of Technology on the road.

Stevens struck first in the opening quarter, finding the back of the cage on its seventh shot of the period. The Aggies' defense worked hard to keep the Ducks at bay, with goalkeeper Gracyn Shutt making three saves in the frame and first-year Lily Henicheck recording a defensive save.

The Ducks added two more goals in the second quarter to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. DelVal generated its best scoring opportunity in the closing seconds of the half when Kylie Conley fired the Aggies' lone shot of the contest, but the attempt was blocked.

Stevens continued its offensive pressure in the second half, scoring four additional goals on 25 shots. Shutt turned in a strong performance despite the outcome, stopping 11 shots in the third quarter and adding five more saves in the fourth. Savannah Weaver contributed a defensive save in the final period to help anchor the Aggies' defensive effort.

DelVal returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when it hosts MAC Freedom newcomer Marywood University at 4 p.m. at Robert A. Lipinski Field.
