DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team dropped its non-conference game versus visiting Washington College (MD), 2-0 on Wednesday night.
The Aggies fell to 2-6-1 while the Shorewomen improved to 5-3-1.
DelVal could not solve the Washington defense, tallying just five shots on the evening. The Aggies did an admirable job defensively, withstanding 23 shots by the Shorewomen.
Steph Scott gave Washington a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick goal in the 20
th minute. In the second half, the Shorewomen increased the margin in the 53
rd minute. Paige Cahoon passed the ball to Maribeth
Harrington. Harrington sent a pass ahead and sprung Arianna Sabatino for a breakaway. Sabatino beat the goalkeeper to the left side.
Sophomore
Emily Schukraft made seven saves for the Aggies while Courtney Colbert stopped one shot for the Shorewomen.
Delaware Valley begins Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play at Wilkes University on Saturday, October 1 (5:00 p.m.).
