GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team came from behind to defeat Gwynedd Mercy University, 2-1 on Wednesday.
The Aggies evened their record at 2-2-1 while the Griffins dropped to 1-2-2.
Gwynedd Mercy struck first in the 13
th minute when Meghan Petroski sent a short cross into the box and it was tapped in by Tori Goebig. The shots were close in the opening half with the Griffins holding a 5-4 advantage.
DelVal brought pressure in the second half, outshooting Gwynedd Mercy, 7-3. The Aggies got the tying goal from sophomore
Taylor Boyer with 20:51 remaining. She blasted a shot into the goal from just inside the 18.
Junior
Kylie Williams tallied the game-winner with 8:55 on the clock. She fought through the Griffin defense in the box and fired off a shot into the net. It was Williams's second goal of the season, tying her for the team lead.
Sophomore
Emily Schukraft stopped three shots in the victory. Kailey Hopkins made three saves in the Gwynedd Mercy goal.
The Aggies continue their road trip on Saturday, September 17 when they visit Drew University (1:00 p.m.).
