DelVal Women's Tennis Drops Season Finale To Nine-Time Defending Conference Champ Wilkes

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's tennis team concluded its 2015-16 season with a 9-0 home setback to nine-time defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom champion Wilkes University on Sunday.
 
The Lady Colonels will head to the conference tournament with an 18-2 record (5-0 MAC Freedom) while the Aggies ended their second intercollegiate year with an 8-12 overall mark (0-5 MAC Freedom). The victory total was six more than last year's 2-12 inaugural campaign.
 
Laken Henry won the most games in singles play for DelVal as took two in a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Madison Salmon at third singles. Melanie Mayhew (first singles), Natalie Hoffman (second singles) and Emilyann Maialetti (sixth singles) each took a game in the second set in their 6-0, 6-1 decisions.
 
In doubles play, the tandem of Henry and Alexandra Vaccaro won two games in an 8-2 loss to Taylor Hoffman and Julia Baranov at the second spot.
