DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a 17-8 victory over Manhattanville College in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest on Saturday.
The Aggies improved to 7-6 on the season and currently sit in a tie for third place with a 3-2 conference mark. There are two MAC Freedom games remaining and the top four teams qualify for the conference tournament. The Valiants dropped to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in the MAC Freedom.
Delaware Valley honored its three seniors before the matchup:
Patsy Davis,
Jon Fogarty and
Rodney Poindexter. All three were members of the program's inaugural squad in 2015 with Davis serving as a team captain.
The Aggies dominated the first half and into the third quarter, tallying the first four goals and 14 of the initial 15. DelVal held a 15-2 advantage with 4:47 to go in the third stanza. Manhattanville then mounted a comeback attempt, producing six of the next seven markers. The score sat at 16-8 with 8:31 remaining in the fourth. The Aggie defense then shut down the Valiants' attack the rest of the way and Delaware Valley registered the final goal man-down with 38 seconds left to cap the victory.

PJ Rafferty led the Aggies with four points apiece. Coyle netted three goals and one assist while Rafferty posted one goal and three helpers. Sophomore

Danny Smith picked up 10 and seven ground balls respectively. Tordone was also 16-for-26 on faceoff attempts and Smith caused four turnovers. Fogarty played the first three quarters in goal and stopped four shots. Sophomore

Sophomore Tyler Bentrewicz paced the Valiants with two goals and one assist. Senior Connor Normandin and junior Ed Motherway each scored twice and freshman Erik Sparby registered one goal and one assist. Sophomore Robbie Schartner hit the back of the net one time. Junior Ed Seganti stopped 11 shots in goal.
DelVal plays its first of two road games to end the regular season on Wednesday, April 27 (4:00 p.m.) at Wilkes University.
