DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's tennis took three games from visiting FDU-Florham, but dropped a 6-3 decision in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener for both teams.
The Devils improved to 4-6 overall while the Aggies, who were playing their second match in less than 24 hours, saw their mark drop to 5-8.
DelVal's lone win at singles came from freshman
Alexandra Vaccaro at the number three position. She downed Serina Grande 6-4, 6-1 to improve her individual record to 8-6 on the year.
Vaccaro also teamed with
Laken Henry to down Grande and Russo, 8-3 at second doubles. The remaining victory came at third doubles as
Natalie Hoffman and
Emilyann Maialetti teamed for an 8-6 triumph over Amelia Vetto and Fidelle El-Asmar.
Melanie Mayhew picked up six games in a loss to Remy Astorino at number one singles while Hoffman suffered a 6-1, 6-3 setback at second singles. Henry, Maialetti and
Tess Hansler combined to win 11 game in their individual matches.
The Aggies will return to action on Saturday, April 9 when they travel to Misericordia University for a MAC Freedom match.
