Box Score BRYN ATHYN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team had its three-game win streak snapped by Bryn Athyn College in a 10-8 road loss on Wednesday.
The Aggies fell back to the .500 mark at 4-4 while the Lions improved to 4-1.
The first half belonged to DelVal as it jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Freshman
Matt Tordone won the opening faceoff and sprinted down the field to record his second goal in as many games. Fellow rookies
PJ Rafferty and
Tyler Roberto also tallied goals in the first quarter. Luke Frazier put Bryn Athyn on the scoreboard with 1:22 to go in the first.
The Aggies went ahead 5-1 on markers by freshman
Austin Sensenig and sophomore
Chris Coyle. They scored just 19 seconds apart. Andrew Coyle got the Lions within three (11:10) but
Chris Coyle put DelVal back up four with 4:37 on the clock and the Aggies took that advantage into halftime.
The two teams traded goals until it was an 8-4 DelVal lead with 7:22 left in the third. Nolan Frame began the Lions' rally, hitting the back of the net twice at 6:32 and 1:22 respectively. Frazier then registered two straight to tie the contest with 10:51 remaining. Ryan Landels gave Bryn Athyn the lead with 6:20 to go. Frame iced the victory with his fourth goal at the six-second mark.
Frame's four tallies were joined by Frazier's three goals and one assist and Coyle's one goal and three assists for the most points in the game. Jesse Frazier and Landels each produced one goal and one assist while Connor Buick notched two helpers. Travis McCurdy caused four turnovers while Robert Moran made 13 saves in goal and picked up eight ground balls.
Freshman
Jordan Smith totaled three assists for DelVal and Rafferty and Coyle potted two goals apiece. Sophomore
Nick Shendge, Tordone, Sensenig and Roberto each scored one goal. Sophomore
Cori Grobes had a team-high seven ground balls while Tordone finished 12-for-20 on faceoffs. Senior
Jon Fogarty stopped 17 shots in goal.
The Aggies begin conference play at FDU-Florham on Saturday, April 9 (3:00 p.m.).
