Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0, non-conference victory over Centenary University. Set scores were 25-20 and 25-13.
The Aggies, who honored seniors
Nicole Daigneault and
Lilly Gilbert before the match, picked up their second straight win as they improved to 6-14. The Cyclones dropped to 1-22.
The first set was a back and forth tilt until Daigneualt stepped to the service stripe and led DelVal to nine straight points to open up a 16-10 advantage. The Cyclones managed to get to within three points twice at 20-17 and 23-20 before the Aggies put the final touches on a 25-20 set.
After Centenary started game two with two straight points,
Taylor Klecan was the first Aggie to serve as she helped the team rip off eight straight points to open up a six-point margin. However, the Cyclones regained the lead and were still up 17-14 when Klecan took the serve again and DelVal rallied off six straight for a 20-17 advantage. Centenary tied the score late at 23-23, but it was a Daigneault set that led to Klecan burying the final kill to take the set.
The Aggies got off to another hot start in set number three, this time behind the serving of
Kourtney Campbell, who led them to an 8-1 early lead. DelVal led by as many as nine points three different times in the set, the last coming at 18-9, before closing out the 25-13 game and match decision. Daigneault had the Aggies final two points with a kill and a service ace.
Daigneault had a match-high 28 assists to go with 10 digs, three service aces, and two kills.
Kate Woolsey finished with a match-high 14 kills and Klecan added seven service aces, eight kills and seven digs. Gilberrt had three digs and one assist from her libero position.
For the Cyclones, Jamie Bierbaum had a team-high high five kills and six digs. Setter Zoey Woody finished with seven assists, four digs and two kills while Amanda Fullem recorded a team-high four services aces to go with five digs and four kills.
DelVal will host nationally-ranked and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Eastern University on Wednesday, October 26 (7 p.m.).
