DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team opened the 26-27 campaign against Immaculata at home on Tuesday night, taking the third set from the Mighty Macs, but ultimately dropping the match 3-1 (25-18, 25-11, 15-25, 25-9).
The teams traded points to open the first set, with Immaculata using a 6-2 spurt to create a five-point gap. Two errors and a pair of kills from
Monique Smith helped keep the Aggies in range. Smith's fifth kill of the set brought the Aggies back within two, but the Mighty Macs used a strong 6-1 rally to claim the win.
Immaculata's momentum continued in the second set building up a 15-point lead over the Aggies.

Layla-Deanna Rabanal and Smith combined for five kills in response but couldn't overcome the gap.
Tied at 4-4 in the third set, a kill put the Mighty Macs ahead by one, but an immediate response from
Camilla Garcia sparked the Aggies' biggest run of the match using an 8-1 spurt to pull ahead by six points. Immaculata tried to catch up pulling back within four, but an 8-4 run capped by a service ace from
Madison Alexander sealed the win for the Aggies.
Back-to-back service aces and a killed set the tone for Immaculata in the final set. Bera, Garcia, Hernandez and Smith worked to keep the deficit to seven, but a dominate 13-2 performance for the Mighty Macs ended the set.
Smith led the Aggies in kills with nine while Alexander recorded 22 total assists.
Samantha Wilton led the defense with 14 digs.
DelVal is back in action this Thursday, Sep. 3 at Cairn for a 7 p.m. showdown.
