Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University sophomore
Samantha Greim picked the right time for her first collegiate goal as she scored with 7:38 remaining in the second overtime to give the Aggies a 2-1 home win over FDU-Florham in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action.
The victory improved DelVal to 3-9-1 overall and 1-2 in the MAC Freedom while the Devils fell to 6-6-3 and 1-2.
In the second overtime, FDU-Florham got a shot on goal 62 seconds in as Kristen Fila's attempt was stopped by
Emily Schukraft. Just over a minute later, DelVal's
Taylor Boyer sent the ball down the left sideline and it stayed in play as
Karla Keler tracked it down. With time to set up, Keler sent a perfect cross into the box right to Greim. She settled the ball and put a shot past FDU-Florham goalkeeper Annie George to set off an Aggie celebration.
DelVal opened the scoring in the 18
th minute of the contest and it was Keler who also set up that tally. Her throw-in deep in Devils' territory found Boyer, who scored from about six yards out. Boyer is tied with Keler for the team lead in goals with six while Keler's two assists upped her point total to a team-best eight.
It remained 1-0 in favor of DelVal despite a heavy shot advantage by FDU-Florham. The Devils were finally able to get the equalizer with 7:28 left in regulation as Fila registered an unassisted tally. However, it was Greim's golden goal that sent the home crowd home happy.
FDU-Florham finished with a 16-4 advantage in shots, but two of DelVal's attempts found its way into the back of the net. Schukraft had four saves for the Aggies, who will host DeSales University for Homecoming and a MAC Freedom game on Saturday, October 15 (5 p.m.).
