Box Score PINE VALLEY (NY) – The Delaware Valley University field hockey team has a winning streak to start the 2015 season as it defeated Elmira College, 3-0 on Saturday.
The Aggies are 2-0 and the Soaring Eagles drop to 0-3.
DelVal wasted no time taking a lead as freshman
Samantha Collyer tallied her first collegiate goal just 1:25 into the contest. She tipped in a hard shot by senior
Taylor Prichett. The Aggies added two more goals in the first half, both by sophomore
Carlie Baldus with Prichett helping. Baldus struck less than two minutes apart with 11:20 and 9:26 on the clock. On the first marker, Baldus received a long pass down the sideline from Prichett and outran an Elmira defender in a race towards the goal. Prichett and Baldus executed a give-and-go to perfection on the second goal.
The Aggies held the advantage in shots (19-11) and penalty corners (11-7). Senior
Emily Aldridge totaled four saves in the cage. Junior Mikayla Rebusmen stopped three shots for Elmira in the first half before giving way to sophomore Julie Hockenberger in the second. Hockenberger made four saves.
DelVal hosts Arcadia University on Wednesday, September 9 (4:00 p.m.).
