Box Score READING (PA) – Margaret Wentzel scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead Alvernia University to a 5-1, non-conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley University
The win upped the Crusaders' record to 5-4 while the Aggies dropped below the .500 mark at 4-5.
Wentzel assisted on the first two goals as Malorie McCoy and Andrea Wysocki scored in the opening seven minutes. Wentzel then got free for a breakaway and a goal with 8:11 left in the first half. She added to her point total with a pair of tallies in the second stanza.
DelVal's lone goal came with 2:32 remaining as freshman
Samantha Collyer notched her fourth strike of the season. The assist went to junior Cecilia Lounsberry, her second of the year.
Alvernia held a 23-4 advantage in shots.
Emily Aldridge made 13 saves for the Aggies, including eight in the first half. Rebecca Brosious and Nicole Heinze combined for three stops for the Crusaders.
DelVal returns to action on Saturday, October 3 (weather permitting) when it travels to Manhattanville College for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match-up.
