Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University field hockey team could not solve the Albright College defense in a non-conference 5-0 defeat on Tuesday.
The Aggies have a 3-2 record while the Lions are 2-3.
DelVal struggled in the first half, allowing five goals. Senior Mackenzie Faight opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the contest, when she tipped in a shot by junior Kendra Delgado. Senior Jessie Leonardis had an unassisted tally with 21:02 on the clock. Faight followed with her second marker just under three minutes later. She deflected in a cross from sophomore Tracy Snyder. Faight finished the hat trick with 6:06 left in the half. She tipped in senior Amanda Smith's shot from the right side. Smith ended the period with an unassisted goal with 3:18 remaining.
The Aggies played much better in the second half, producing six shots and five penalty corners. However, they still could not find an answer for freshman goalkeeper Aileen Taylor, who made six saves for her second shutout. DelVal senior keeper
Emily Aldridge stopped four shots. The Lions finished the game with a 17-10 advantage in shots and 15-8 in penalty corners.
Delaware Valley will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 19 at home against Juniata College (3:00 p.m.).
