Box Score ALLENTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University scored two goals in the second half, including one with 9:50 remaining, as the Aggies notched a 2-1, come-from-behind victory at Muhlenberg College.
Delaware Valley continued its stretch against strong non-conference foes and improved its overall record to 2-2-1. The Mules, a perennial contender in the Centennial Conference, fell to 0-3-1 in the young season.
The Aggies trailed 1-0 at the intermission but tied it up 13:38 into the second stanza as
Karla Keler took a feed from
Kylie Williams and connected on a straight-on blast from outside the box. It was Keler's third goal of the season.
Muhlenberg responded with six consecutive shots after Keler goal, but came away with nothing. DelVal had three of the next four opportunities before the Mules got off five straight in a six-minute span. Aggie goalkeeper
Brenna Coll kept it a 1-1 game with four saves while one shot went wide left.
As the clock ticked under 10 minutes left in regulation,
Mary Taylor set a long pass ahead.
Nikki Dunlap beat the defender to the ball and then beat the goalkeeper in the box for her second goal of the year and a 2-1 advantage.
Muhlenberg had three shots in the final minutes, including one with 33 seconds remaining, but Coll stopped the last opportunity and the Aggies had the win.
DelVal nearly scored in the first 80 seconds, but Dunlap hit the crossbar. The Mules picked up their lone goal of the game midway through the first half as Jacelin Muschilitz got a rebound off a Coll save, and put it in the net for her first goal of the year. That was the lone tally until the Aggies rallied in the second half,
Muhlenberg finished with a 28-98 advantage in shots, including 18-5 in the second half. Coll made eight of her 10 saves in those final 45 minutes.
DelVal will travel to Widener University for a non-conference battle on Wednesday, September 16.
