Box Score ASTON (PA) –
Taylor Prichett began her senior season with a bang as she scored two, second-half goals and moved into third place on Delaware Valley University all-time list for both goals and points as the Aggies rallied for a 2-1, non-conference win over host Neumann University.
Prichett, a 2013 all-conference honoree who has led the team in scoring in each of the last two years, broke a tie with Kristen Cottman (2001-04) for third place in points and passed her for the third spot in goals. She now has 39 tallies and 93 points.
Neumann opened the scoring with 6:34 left in the first half as Jessica Harrell notched an unassisted tally. However, DelVal tied it up just 7:37 into the second stanza as
Carlie Baldus went down the right side and sent a crossing pass. It went off a stick and up in the air where Prichett deflected it home.
Overtime loomed as the clock ticked under the five minute mark. However, the Aggies found themselves on a 2-on-1 with Prichett and freshman
Timera Brooks-Watts. Watts swept a pass over to Prichett, who blasted home the go-ahead goal with 4:43 remaining.
Neumann had a flurry at the end, including four shots in the final 64 seconds. However, Aggie goalie
Emily Aldridge stopped three, the last coming with 20 seconds to go. Freshman
Aimee MacFarland also had a key defensive save in the late scrum.
Aldridge finished with 13 saves in the win while Becca Wallace was credited with 14 stops for the Knights.
DelVal will look to make it two in a row when it travels to Elmira College for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 5.
