DELVAL MEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS FREEDOM SETBACK TO FDU-FLORHAM

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – FDU-Florham scored the final nine goals of the afternoon as the Devils spoiled Delaware Valley's first game as a University with a 13-4, Freedom Conference decision.

Earlier in the day, Delaware Valley College officially became Delaware Valley University. The loss dropped the Aggies to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom while FDU-Florham upped its marks to 6-4 and 2-0.

Delaware Valley needed just 46 seconds to put one on the scoreboard as Bill Long notched an unassisted goal. The Devils tied it up less than 90 seconds later, but the Aggies got the next two tallies for a 3-1, first quarter lead. Patsy Davis found the net off a Danny Smith assist with exactly seven minutes left in the first and Davis then set up Seth Clauser's goal with 1:19 to go.

FDU-Florham scored three unanswered goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half to take its first lead of the game. Delaware Valley responded with 7:37 to go before halftime as Alex McKenzie connected off a feed from Troy Darpino.

However, the rest of the game belonged to the Devils, starting with David Stewart's goal just 65 seconds after McKenzie's tally. Dave Magrini added one with 30 ticks left before the break for a 6-4 advantage. FDU-Florham then scored five times in the third and added two more in the fourth as six different players connected in the second half.

Nick Ardolino and Jake Higgins had three goals apiece for the Devils, who outshot Delaware Valley, 48-15. Daniel Minnich added two goals and four helpers for a six-point showing.

Deron Dixon had five of the Aggies' 22 ground balls in the game while Smith added three ground balls and two caused turnovers to go along with his one assist. Jacob Tomasik stopped 18 shots in net.
