DELVAL MEN'S LACROSSE NOTCHES 6-3 WIN AT MANHATTANVILLE IN FIRST FREEDOM GAME

Box Score PURCHASE (NY) – Delaware Valley College made its Freedom Conference debut a memorable one as the Aggies went on the road and posted a 6-3 triumph over Manhattanville College.

Delaware Valley, which is in its inaugural season of intercollegiate competition, improved to 5-3 overall while the Valiants fell to 3-5. The Aggies will be home for its next two Freedom battles, starting with a contest against FDU-Florham on Wednesday, April 8.

Manhattanville notched the first tally of the day on Andrew Murray's unassisted goal with 8:59 left in the first quarter. Delaware Valley responded with three straight goals, beginning with Nick Shendge's mark with 88 seconds to go in the quarter. Patsy Davis put them up for good just 33 seconds into the second quarter off a feed from Seth Clauser. Four minutes later, Matt Brady connected to give the Aggies a 3-1 lead and that's the advantage they took into the intermission.

The Valiants pulled to within on two occasions in the second half, but Delaware Valley had an answer each time. Murray got his second goal of the game midway through the third quarter, but Clauser took a pass from Riley Kratzke and beat goalkeeper Zach Hoffman with 5:39 to go in the stanza.

Then in the fourth, Ed Motherway scored two minutes in for Manhattanville before Alex McKenzie answered with 10:07 remaining. Kratzke set up that tally as well for his 12th assist of the year. Clauser added an insurance tally, his 12th of the season with 8:27 left on the clock.

Delaware Valley outshot the Valiants, 30-19, including an 11-3 advantage in the team's big second quarter. Manhattanville had a 33-25 edge in ground balls, but the Valiants turned the ball over 21 times compared to just 12 by the Aggies.

Shendge and Danny Smith had four ground balls apiece for Delaware Valley. Jacob Tomasik stopped nine shots in the win while Hoffman was credited with 13 saves for Manhattanville.
