Strong Second Half Lifts King's Men's Lacrosse Over DelVal

Box Score WILKES-BARRE (PA) – King's College used a five-goal third quarter to pull away from visiting Delaware Valley University for a 12-7, Freedom Conference win.
 
With the loss, the Aggies fell to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in Freedom play while the Monarchs improved to 5-6 and 2-2. King's is tied with Misericordia University for third place and both hold just a one-game advantage over DeSales University with the top four advancing to the conference playoffs. Delaware Valley will wrap up its inaugural season next Saturday, April 25 when it hosts DeSales.
 
The Aggies and King's traded goals throughout the first quarter of the game with King's holding a 3-2 advantage after the first 15 minutes. Delaware Valley got goals from Seth Clauser and Nick DiMinno in that stretch. The Monarchs were the only team to score in the second quarter when Cam Trick scored his 22nd of the year for a 4-2 score at halftime.
 
King's continued its run with the first five goals of the second half to open up a 9-2 lead. Trick and Brock Johnson combined for three goals and three assists in that run. Chris Coyle got one back for the Aggies before the end of the quarter for his 20th of the season.  
 
Delaware Valley opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with Clauser picking up his second of the day on an unassisted tally with 13:36 remaining. The Aggies cut the deficit to as low as four after goals from Matt Brady and Patsy Davis made it 11-7 with five minutes to play in regulation. However, King's got one more from A.J. Bungert before time expired for the 12-7 victory. 
 
Clauser led the Aggies with a pair of goals while Brady, Coyle, Davis, DiMinno, and Riley Kratzke each had one. Jacob Tomasik made five saves in the loss. Kyle Johnston had a team-best two caused turnovers to go with one ground ball on defense. Danny Smith was 6-for-10 on faceoffs and scooped up four ground balls
 
Kings got a pair of hat tricks from Bungert and Sweeney while Johnson had a game-high six points on two goals and four assists. William Pokorny earned the win in net with eight saves.
