Box Score ST. DAVIDS (PA) – Defending Freedom Conference champion Eastern University remained undefeated in league action as the host Eagles notched a 20-2 victory over first-year program Delaware Valley University.
Eastern improved to 11-3 overall and 4-0 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 5-6 and 1-3. Delaware Valley has two games remaining in its inaugural campaign, starting with this Saturday's road contest at Freedom foe King's College.
The Eagles scored seven goals in the opening quarter, including a six-point effort from David Darling (three goals, three assists). Four different players found the back of the net in the second as Eastern took an 11-0 lead in the intermission.
The Eagles made it 13-0 before Delaware Valley got on the board with 7:29 left in the third quarter as
Nick DiMinno scored an unassisted goal. DiMinno also tallied the team's final goal of the game with another unassisted effort with 3:45 left in the outing.
Darling finished with seven points while Eric Waibel (three goals) and Grant Ferguson (two goals, one assist) had three points apiece. Three goalies combined for 13 saves for the Eagles.
DiMinno had seven of the Aggies' 21 shots on the afternoon.
Danny Smith led the way with eight grounds balls and was 5-for-9 in faceoffs.
Jacob Tomasik had nine saves in three quarters while
Jon Fogarty and
Zach Winfield combined for three saves in their first action of the year.
