Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Misericordia University outscored Delaware Valley University, 12-3, in the second half, en route to an 18-5 Freedom Conference victory in Doylestown.
The loss dropped the Aggies to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in league games while the Cougars improved to 6-5 and 1-1 in the Freedom.
Misericordia got on the board first when Pat Kellish set up Andrew Reynolds 6:06 into the contest for the 1-0 advantage. Delaware Valley answered a little less than three minutes later with
Nick Shendge picking up his fourth of the season.
Kellish then sparked a 5-0 Cougar run with two goals in a 12-second span as Misericordia held a 6-1 lead with 12:03 to play in the first half. The Aggies than got a spark off the bench from
Nick DiMinno who scored his first goal of the season to make it 6-2 going into the break.
As the first half expired, Misericordia picked up two separate penalties that gave Delaware Valley possession and a man-up opportunity to start the third quarter. The Aggies needed just 55 seconds to capitalize as
Matt Brady found
Seth Clauser parked in front of the cage and he found the back of the net to cut the deficit in half, 6-3.
From there, the Cougars took control, outscoring Delaware Valley, 12-2, the rest of the way. The Aggies final tallies came from
Alex Hardy, who picked up his first of the year late in the third, and
Riley Kratzke who scored on a man-down situation in the fourth.
Misericordia got off a total of 60 shots with 29 of them on cage and it held a 19-6 advantage in the faceoff circle. Kellish (four goals, three assists) and Lane Kocovsky (five goals, two assists) each had a game-high seven points in the victory and Reynolds added three goals and one assist.
The Aggies got goals from Clauser, DiMinno, Hardy, Kratzke and Shendge with Brady getting credited with the lone assist.
Jacob Tomasik made a game-high 11 saves.
