DELVAL MEN FALL IN FIRST FREEDOM TENNIS MATCH

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Delaware Valley College made its Freedom Conference men's tennis debut on Sunday with an 8-1 setback to visiting King's College.

It was the first on-campus match on the Aggies' new courts. The loss dropped them to 0-5 and 0-1 on the season while the Monarchs improved to 5-5 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the Freedom Conference.

Delaware Valley picked up its lone win at number one singles as the Aggies' Alexander Weiss took on Matt James. Weiss took the first set, 7-5, before James forced a tiebreaker with a 6-3 win in the second. However, it was Weiss who proved victorious as he outlasted James in the tiebreaker, 12-10.

Colin Evoy took six games at number two singles, but fell to Terry Briggs. Evoy and Joseph Palacios competed at number one doubles and dropped an 8-6 decision. The Aggies forfeited three singles matches and two doubles matches.
