Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – The Delaware Valley University field hockey team wrapped up its 2015 campaign with a 3-1, non-conference setback at Gwynedd Mercy University.
The Aggies finished with a 6-2 record while the Griffins will head to their conference tournament with a 12-5 mark.
Gwynedd Mercy scored the lone goal of the first half as Brianna O'Connell found the back of the cage off a feed from Stephanie Bacho with 10:11 to go before the intermission. It stayed that way for next 27 minutes until Melissa Russo struck off a corner opportunity. Russo connected again with 9:46 remaining off a Katie O'Neill assist.
DelVal avoided the shutout with 7:53 remaining as
Stefania Swider was successful on a penalty stroke. It was her third goal of the season.
Gwynedd Mercy held advantages of 24-3 in shots and 18-4 in corners. Senior
Emily Aldridge stopped 14 shots in her final game with the Aggies.
Taylor Prichett had two of the team's three shots and she finished the year with 12 assists and a tie for the school's single-season record. Prichett also wrapped up her career second all-time in assists (27) and third in both goals (43) and points (113).
