Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie after Manhattanville College recorded a late goal in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match on Saturday.
The Aggies are 3-11-3 overall with a 0-4-2 conference mark. The Valiants received their first tie of the year and now have a 5-9-1 record, 1-4-1 in the MAC Freedom.
DelVal scored just under seven minutes in to the game. Senior
Nikki Dunlap passed from the middle of the field to freshman
Starr Sargent-Boone on the left side. Sargent-Boone outran a defender and deposited a shot into the left side of the goal.
The Aggies withstood consistent offensive pressure from Manhattanville for most of the contest thereafter. However, the Valiants finally found the equalizer on their eighth shot of the match with 6:38 to go in regulation. Senior Dani Sullivan passed ahead to freshman Lauren Vallarelli, who beat the goalkeeper to the ball in order to get the shot off.
DelVal tallied the only two shots in the extra periods with both coming in the first session. One was blocked by the defense and the other resulted in a save. Senior
Brenna Coll stopped five shots for the Aggies while junior Dolores Diemicke made one save for Manhattanville.
The women's soccer team hosts Immaculata University in the final non-conference tilt of the year on Tuesday, October 27 (7:00 p.m.).
