Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Junior Emily Cole tallied four goals to lead the Eastern University women's soccer team to a 5-1 win over host Delaware Valley University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match on Tuesday.
The Aggies dropped to 3-10-1 overall and they are 0-3 in the conference. The Eagles have a 6-7-1 record with a 2-1 MAC Freedom mark.
The start of the game was delayed due to lightning but once the teams got underway, Cole put Eastern ahead just over 10 minutes in, kicking in a pass from junior Hannah Bomberger. Senior
Nikki Dunlap got DelVal level with 6:17 remaining in the first half. She received a long stretch pass from senior
Mary Taylor and beat out an Eagles defender to get off a shot to the right side of the goal. The tie lasted just 49 seconds before Cole recorded her second with an assist from sophomore Amber Stirling. Cole dribbled around an Aggies defender and shot to the left side. Eastern took the 2-1 lead into halftime.
Cole gave the Eagles a two-goal advantage just under two minutes in to the second period. She took a pass from junior Lydia Peachey, beat out a defender and deposited a shot into the left side. Less than three minutes later, freshman Hanna Kontanis made it a three-goal margin sneaking a shot past the goalkeeper after a cross from freshman Katy Laurie. The final marker came with 14:57 to go. Sophomore Courtney Davis passed ahead to Cole on the right side, who outran a defender to score her fourth of the night.
The teams were close in shots with Eastern holding a 16-13 advantage but had nine corner kicks compared to DelVal's three. Freshman Adrianna Swinehart made six saves in 81 minutes of work before giving way to freshman Leah Lozzi, who stopped one shot in the final nine. Senior

DelVal travels to FDU-Florham for another conference match on Friday, October 16 (7:00 p.m.).
