Box Score UNION (NJ) – Kean University scored three unanswered goals in the second half as the Cougars came away with a 4-1, non-conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley University.
The game was delayed with 2:20 to go in the first half due to lightning and then there was no halftime break because of the weather conditions.
Kean won for the 12
th time in 15 contests this year while the Aggies slipped under the .500 mark at 6-7. DelVal, which is 2-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom, will return to league action on Saturday, October 17 when it hosts defending champion FDU-Florham.
The Cougars' Krista LaMaina opened the game's scoring with 16:04 left in the first half thanks to a feed from Chelsea Mann after Mann dribbled past three defenders. However, the Aggies tied it up with 7:04 to go before the intermission as they were successful on a corner opportunity. Off the corner,
Cecelia Lounsberry had her shot stopped, but
Kara Imes was there to put in the rebound for her fourth goal of the season.
It was all Kean in the second stanza, including just 22 seconds in as Marissa Robinson scored off a rebound. LaMaina followed with her second tally of the game just three minutes later and Jordan Colan found the back of the cage with 25:20 remaining for the 4-1 final.
Kean had a 32-15 advantage in shots and edged the Aggies in corners, 13-10. DelVal's
