DELVAL WOMEN'S TENNIS COMPETES IN FIRST MATCH IN PROGRAM HISTORY

GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – The first match in Delaware Valley College women's tennis history took place at nearby Gwynedd-Mercy University on Monday and it was the host Griffins that came away with a 9-0 victory.

Monday's contest saw the Delaware Valley doubles teams of Melanie Mayhew and Jessica Oszart, Karin Gasparini and Natalie Hoffman, and Alison Welsh and Emilyann Maialetti combine to win five games.

Oszart and Hoffman picked up four games apiece at number two and number four singles respectively. Gasparini took three games at the third singles spot.

Gwynedd-Mercy, the defending champion of the Colonial States Athletic Conference, improved its record to 1-1 on the year. Meanwhile, head coach Darcy Rabenda and her young Aggie squad will look for the program's first win on Saturday, September 13 when they host Penn State Abington at the Doylestown Tennis Club.
