KEAN FIELD HOCKEY SCORES WITH NO TIME LEFT FOR 3-2 WIN OVER DELVAL

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Krista LaMaina deflected home a goal off a corner with no time remaining to lift visiting Kean University to a 3-2, non-conference win over Delaware Valley College.

The victory improved the Cougars' record to 11-6 overall while the Aggies fell to 6-11. Delaware Valley's last three games are all Freedom Conference contests, starting with a trip to Misericordia University on Saturday, October 25.

Kean earned the corner with 17 seconds left and, once everyone was set up, time expired on the scoreboard. However, a game cannot end on a corner so play continued. Krista LaMaina sent the corner pass to Marissa Robinson at the top of the circle. LaMaina moved to the front of the goal and she was there to deflect Robinson's blast high and into the cage for the winning tally. It was LaMaina's second goal of the game and her 10th of the season.

The goal spoiled a spirited Delaware Valley comeback after an early 2-0 deficit. Late in the first half, freshman Carlie Baldus picked up a loose ball off a rebound and found the back of the goal for her fifth tally of the year and a 2-1 score.

In the second half, the Aggies picked up a corner opportunity and they took advantage of it to tie the contest. Baldus sent the corner pass to Kelsey Zook at the top of the circle. Zook fed Taylor Prichett to her left and the junior blasted it by goalkeeper Katie DiCarlo. It was Prichett's team-best 10th goal of the year and it came with 15:41 to go.

Kean put the pressure on after the tying goal and outshot the Aggies, 7-0, the rest of the way. It also had eight corners in those last 15-plus minutes, including the one that led to the game-winning goal.

The Cougars' first two goals came from Robinson off a blast from the top of the circle 13:43 into the contest. LaMaina deflected one in just 69 seconds later.
