DELVAL FIELD HOCKEY SUFFERS 1-0 LOSS AT FDU-FLORHAM

Box Score MADISON (NJ) – Niki Ikeda scored the lone goal of the game early in the second half as FDU-Florham registered a 1-0 shutout over visiting Delaware Valley College in Friday night, Freedom Conference action.
 
The Devils improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference while the Aggies slipped to 6-10 and 1-3.
 
The first half went scoreless as FDU-Florham held advantages of 6-2 in shots and 8-3 in corners in the stanza. Eight minutes into the second half, the Devils earned a corner opportunity and they capitalized as Ikeda received a feed from Kim Davis and she blasted it home from the top left of the circle for a 1-0 advantage.
 
Delaware Valley, which had one shot in those first eight minutes of the second half, had just one more attempt the rest of the way. That came with 12:11 left in the game as, off a corner, Lydia Spakosky's shot was stopped by goalkeeper Amy Defnet.
 
Defnet had two saves for the shutout. Emily Aldridge was credited with three saves for the Aggies.
