PRICHETT NOTCHES HAT TRICK, DELVAL FIELD HOCKEY EARNS 4-3 CONFERENCE WIN

Seniors Sarah Cvach, Lydia Spakosky, Jessica Summers and Kelsey Zook
Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College field hockey seniors combined for four points and a defensive save, but it was junior Taylor Prichett who stole the show with a hat trick in a 4-3, Freedom Conference victory over visiting Manhattanville College.

The Aggies earned their first victory in league play to pull to 1-2 in conference and 6-8 overall while the Valiants dropped to 0-3 and 2-11.

Sarah Cvach, Lydia Spakosky, Jessica Summer and Kelsey Zook were honored before the Homecoming and Senior Day contest. And before the game was 10 minutes old, the seniors and their teammates had built a 2-0 lead.

Freshman Carlie Baldus got the scoring started 6:17 in when she received a pass from Cvach and made a brilliant move around the goalie for the open-net finish.  Three minutes later, it was Summers setting up Prichett in the high slot for her first goal of the afternoon.

Manhattanville answered with four minutes left in the first half when Melissa Stys sent a pass post to post and Rylee McGuire connected on the other end to cut the deficit to 2-1.

In the second half, the Valiants knotted the score at 2-2 when Morgan Parsons capitalized on a penalty stroke with 25:05 to play.

Less than seven minutes later, Summers and Prichett hooked up again on a nice passing play in tight quarters to put Delaware Valley back on top.  The duo connected one more time, this one with 15:14 left, as a designed corner play saw Summers deflect a pass to Prichett, who was waiting at the post for the tap-in and her team-leading ninth goal of the year.

Manhattanville tried to claw its way back as McGuire scored her second of the game off a fast break and a feed from Lisa Maxwell. However, with just 16 seconds left in regulation it was too little, too late.

Emily Aldridge earned her sixth win in goal for the Aggies with seven saves and Meghan Hughes was credited with the loss despite 13 saves.
