Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College pumped out 34 shots and five found the back of the net as the Aggies registered a 5-0, non-conference triumph over visiting Penn State Hazleton.
The win evened Delaware Valley's record at 1-1 while the Lions fell to 0-3.
The Aggies dominated the contest from the opening whistle as they registered 17 shots in each half. They needed just six-plus minutes to get on the scoreboard as
Dan Mackin headed in a feed from
Peter Tantillo.
Steve Mannato made it 2-0 six minutes later as he took a pass from
Jordan Robinson and found the low right corner from about 18 yards out. Then with 3:15 remaining in the first half, the Aggies were awarded a directed kick from just shy of the midfield line. Goalkeeper
Chase Clement came up to take the kick and he blasted a high lofting shot that found its way into the top right corner of the net for a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, freshman
Max Drummond, the son of Delaware Valley head coach
Tom Drummond, scored a pair of goals less than two minutes apart to round out the scoring. The first came off an assist by
Kevin Robinson with 25:32 remaining and the second was a rebound off an
Alessandro Cesario shot with 23:11 to go.
Meanwhile, the Aggie defense held Penn State Hazleton to five shots on the afternoon. Clement and
Andrew Priest had one save apiece to share the shutout. Amanda Bakunas and Logan Yacowatz had a combined 14 saves for the Lions.
