Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College scored in the first and final minute of the opening half while Julie Burnell stopped seven shots for the shutout as the Aggies downed visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College, 2-0.

The win improved Delaware Valley to 1-1 on the young season while the Griffins saw their mark fall to 0-2-1.

The Aggies needed just 25 seconds to hit the scoreboard in their home opener as Gabrielle Montone sent a crossing pass into the box and Amber Schaeffer put the ball just inside the right goalpost for her first tally.

Then with the clock winding down in the first half, Shayna Schaeffer dribbled toward the left corner and crossed a pass to Keri Helmrich, who one-timed it past the keeper for the freshman's second goal of the year.

It was all Burnell from there as the graduate student, using her final year of eligibility, recorded six of her seven saves in the second half. Gwynedd-Mercy held a 14-9 advantage in shots while its goalkeeper, Jess Tadley, had two saves in the contest.
