AGGIE MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN OVERTIME IN SEASON FINALE

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – In the final game of the regular season, Manhattanville College's Dan Lorandini's goal with 1:08 remaining in the first overtime gave the Valiants a 2-1, victory at Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

With the loss, the Aggies closed out their year at 8-10-1 overall and 1-6 in conference games. It was also the end of the collegiate career for senior Dan Mackin, a four-year starter on defense and a three-year captain for Delaware Valley.

The game appeared headed for a second overtime when the Valiants (5-10-2, 2-4-1) moved into Aggie territory with Thomas Wagner carrying the ball. He laid a pass off to Dan Lorandini, who dribbled into the box, beat two defenders and, ultimately, ended the match with a low shot past the keeper.

It was Manhattanville which opened the scoring early in the first half. The team earned a free kick from 22 yards out in the middle of the field and they called upon Jesper Hjalm to take the kick. His blast went off the wall of Delaware Valley defenders and spun into the back of the net.

In the second half with 28:53 remaining in the game, the Aggies, persistence paid off. After their corner attempt was cleared out of the box, Kevin Robinson gathered the ball and beat all defenders to the end line. He sent a cross to the far post where Peter Tantillo was awaiting the easy tip-in. The goal was Tantillo's seventh of the season and Robinson's team-best, seventh assist.

Despite outshooting the Valiants, 20-11, for the game and holding a 7-5 advantage in corner opportunities, Delaware Valley came up short when Lorandini netted the game-winner. Chase Clement made two saves in net for the Aggies and Manhattanville had two keepers combine for five saves.
