Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College women's soccer fought hard, but fell to Freedom Conference opponent Eastern University in a 1-0 tilt.
The loss dropped the Aggies to 4-11-2 overall and 1-3-1 in league play while the Eagles improved to 4-9-2 and 2-2-1. Delaware Valley has two games left on the year, both of which are Saturday conference match-ups. They will travel to DeSales University this Saturday and finish up with Manhattanville College at home the following Saturday.
Eastern scored the ultimate game-winner in the 18th minute. Lydia Peachey played a ball into the box and Michelle Brown was able to control it and put it past the challenging Aggie keeper for her first goal of the year.
Delaware Valley countered with its best chance of the game late in the first half when
Elisha Taney carried the ball into the box on the left side of the field and took a shot toward the far post. Eastern keeper Elayna Simpson dove at the ball and just got a finger on it to push it wide.
Julie Burnell played a strong game in net for the Aggies as she came up with six saves in the first half and three in the second. Simpson had six saves for the Eagles, who also held advantages in shots (17-6) and corners (6-1).
