Taylor Prichett and junior
Jessica Summers was at it again on Thursday afternoon as they accounted for three goals and two assists in Delaware Valley College's 3-1, non-conference win at Immaculata University.
It was the last non-Freedom Conference game of the regular season for the Aggies, who lifted their overall record to 9-5. They are 2-1 and tied with four other teams for first place in the Freedom. They will begin their final four-game push on Saturday, October 19 when they travel to Wilkes University (1-2). Thursday's loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Immaculata as it fell to 5-9.
The Mighty Macs struck first as Patsy Murphy scored her ninth goal of the season just a little over 10 minutes into the contest.
Then it became the Prichett and Summers show. First, Summers responded to Murphy's goal just 56 seconds later as her blast deflected off an Immaculata defender and into the cage. Four minutes after that, the Aggies had an odd-man rush and Summers set up Prichett for the go-ahead tally.
It remained a 2-1 contest until six minutes into the second half when Prichett was at the doorstep and she deflected home a Summers shot.
Prichett and Summers have combined to score 25 of Delaware Valley's 40 goals this season. Prichett is tops on the teams with 16 goals and 35 points while Summers has nine tallies and 10 assists for 28 points. Summers is one helper shy of tying the single-season mark of 11 assists that was set by Bethany Pavlik in 2008.
Delaware Valley held advantages of 20-9 in shots and 10-4 in corners.
Sandra Edwards stopped five shots, en route to the win while the Mighty Macs' Sarah Pasternak had 10 saves.
