GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – Gwynedd-Mercy College scored two goals in a four-minute span in the first half and the Griffins made it stand as they notched a 2-1, non-conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley College.
Gwynedd-Mercy, which suffered shutouts in its first two games of the year, hit the scoreboard for the first time in 2012 as Chloe Collipp took a crossing pass in the box and connected with 28:17 remaining in the first half. Shortly after, Meghan Bojanowski got loose for a breakaway and she beat Aggie goalkeeper
Julie Burnell for a 2-0 advantage.
Delaware Valley (0-2) scored its first goal of the year and cut the Griffin lead in half with 14:50 remaining in the contest as junior
Marianne Morton blasted a shot past Jessica Tadley from outside the box. However, the Aggies failed to get another shot the rest of the way.
Gwynedd-Mercy held advantages of 18-5 in shots and 5-2 in corners. Burnell stopped eight shots for Delaware Valley while Tadley recorded one save at the other end.
