DELVAL WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT REGIONALLY-RANKED WILKES

EDWARDSVILLE (PA) – Wilkes University scored all three goals in the second half as the regionally-ranked Lady Colonels opened Freedom Conference action with a 3-0 triumph over visiting Delaware Valley College.

Wilkes, ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, improved its overall record to 7-2-1. The Aggies fell to 2-7.

After a scoreless first half, the Lady Colonels were awarded a penalty kick 20:26 into the second stanza. Katy Fissel took the shot and she beat Delaware Valley goalkeeper Julie Burnell for the 1-0 lead. Alicia Roberts made it a 2-0 contest just three minutes later and Megan Binder ended the scoring with 6:34 remaining.

Wilkes outshot the Aggies, 32-4, with 16-2 advantages in each half. Burnell was outstanding in defeat as she notched 15 saves. Kate Mahoney had two stops for the Lady Colonels.
