WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT HOME TO WIDENER

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Karen Thomas scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Widener University to a 3-0, non-conference win over host Delaware Valley College.

Thomas put the Pride (2-3-1) on the board just 5:50 into contest as she took a crossing pass from Kelly Buckley and beat Aggie goalkeeper Julie Burnell. Twenty minutes later, Thomas beat a pair of defenders on the left side and slid a pass to Jenna Pedrick who scored her first goal of the year.

Widener put the game away with two tallied in the first 4:14 of the second half. Thomas found the net again off a feed from Amanda Doran just 75 seconds in. Shortly after, Buckley took advantage of a Delaware Valley misplay and put the ball in the empty net.

The Pride had advantages of 18-12 in shots and 12-4 in corners. Vanessa Hejnas recorded six saves and the shutout while Burnell finished with eight saves for Delaware Valley (2-5).
