READING (PA) – Amanda Smith's goal just 2:18 into the second overtime lifted host Albright College to a 2-1, non-conference victory over Delaware Valley College.
Albright (6-1) controlled the tempo of the second extra session and fired two shots at
Sandra Edwards and the junior goalkeeper stopped both of them. The Lions were then awarded a penalty corner which resulted in a shot by Alyssa Tourdot. Delaware Valley defender
Sara Culver kept the ball out of the cage and a scramble in the goalmouth ensued. Smith was able to get the ball and put it in for her first goal of the year and the game-winning tally.
Delaware Valley (2-5) opened the scoring with 15:31 remaining in the first half as
Leah Hawthorn redirected a cross from
Krystle Mazza and notched her third goal of the season. Albright tied it up 10 minutes into the second stanza thanks to Tourdot's 10th tally of the year.
The Aggies held a 26-12 advantage in shots, including a 26-8 edge through regulation and the first overtime. Edwards finished with five saves while Albright goalie Marquerite DeLucas stopped 10 shots.
