AGGIES COMPETE AT LIONS INVITATIONAL

EWING (NJ) – The Delaware Valley College men's and women's track and field teams had its final tune-up before next week's Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships as the Aggies competed at the Lions Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey.

Team scoring was not held at the event which featured teams from Division's I, II and III as well as other track groups.

Senior All-American Travis Pitts was the lone Aggie to place in the top 10, but his string of consecutive wins in the 100 and 200-meter dashes came to an end. Pitts was 4-for-4 in the 100 and 3-for-3 in the 200 this outdoor season, but took sixth in both events this Saturday, He clocked his best time of the year in the 200 as he crossed the finish line in 22.15 seconds, while his 10.81 second finish in the 100 was his second-best time of 2012.

Alexis Maylor paced the Delaware Valley as she placed 13th in both the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. She ran the hurdle event in 15.74 seconds and recorded a leap of 15 feet, 7.75 inches.

The MAC Championships will be held at Elizabethtown College from Thursday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5. Pitts is the defending champion in both the 100 and 200 while fellow All-American Tom Masterson is the two-time defending titlist in the javelin and the long jump. On the women's side, Meghan Donovan did not compete at the MAC Championships last year, but she did qualify for the NCAAs in the high jump and is a returning All-American as well. Donovan was the conference champ in 2010.
