COLLEGEVILLE (PA) – Delaware Valley College had a combined four individual champions as both the Aggie men and women finished third out of six teams at the Ursinus College Invitational.
The women registered 72 points to trail only Ursinus (309 points) and Albright College (76 points). The men notched 52 points and were behind just Ursinus (239 points) and Albright (112 points).
Rachelle Salem had the top performance on the women's side as she took first in the discus with a throw of 107 feet, 3 inches. The senior also took third in shot put with a toss of 32 feet, 5.75 inches.
All-Americans
Travis Pitts and
Tom Masterson continued their outstanding outdoor campaigns as they had three, first-place showings among them. Pitts won his fourth 100-meter dash title in four tries this year as he was clocked at 10.75 seconds. He then made it 3-for-3 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.34 seconds. Masterson took top honors in the javelin for a third straight invitational with a throw of 197 feet, 7 inches.
Andrew McMillan placed second in the 5,000-meter run (18:13.59) while Michael Theiss and
Jesse Ware were fifth in the javelin (158-4) and the 110-meter hurdles (20.88) respectively.
Tia Taylor had two, top-three efforts as she was second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.05) and third in third in the 200-meter dash (28.45).
Tracey Forsythe was second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:18.75) and fifth in the 1,500-meter run (5:20.98) while
Teagan McCardle was fourth in the javelin (92-8) and fifth in the shot put (28-10.50).
Brittany Roberts had top-five showings in the 400-meter hurdles (third – 1:18.94), the pole vault (fourth - 6-11.75) and the 100-meter hurdles (fifth – 19.97).
