DELVAL HAS STRONG SHOWING AT GWYNEDD-MERCY INVITATIONAL

GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – Returning All-Americans Meghan Donovan, Tom Masterson and Travis Pitts combined for four, first-place finishes as Delaware Valley College competed at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Mid-Week Invitational. Team scoring was not held at the event.

Donovan, who had top-eight finishes at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Division III Championships last year, topped all competitors in the high jump on Thursday as she cleared the bar at 1.63 meters. Masterson, who placed third in the javelin at the 2011 nationals, recorded a throw of 57.96 meters at Gwynedd-Mercy.

Pitts made it 3-for-3 this year in the 100-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 11.03 seconds. He earned All-America accolades in the event a season ago by placing eighth at the NCAAs. Pitts also claimed his second straight crown in the 200-meter dash as he was clocked at 22.19 seconds.

Delaware Valley had another top finisher on Thursday in junior Tracey Forsythe. Forsythe ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12 minutes, 26.18 seconds. Teammate Alisha Jordan was next at 12 minutes, 44.69 seconds. Rachelle Salem took third in discus (29.32 meters) and fifth in the shot put (9.95 meters).
