BETHLEHEM (PA) –
Meghan Donovan and
Alexis Maylor had first-place showings in the high jump and the pentathlon respectively as Delaware Valley College finished seventh out of 10 teams at the 2012 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships (held at Lehigh University).
The Aggies notched 25 points on the day with all but three coming from the senior-freshman tandem. Donovan, a 2011 indoor and outdoor All-American, tied her own school and conference record from a season ago as she cleared the high jump bar at five feet, six inches. Donovan's four-year MAC indoor career in the event saw her earn two championships and two runner-up finishes.
Maylor's strong rookie campaign was capped with her performance in the pentathlon as she set a MAC record with 3,139 points. That easily topped the previous mark of 3,012 points set last season. Maylor then recorded two points in the long jump as her leap of 16 feet, 1 inch was good enough for fifth place.
Senior
Rachelle Salem picked up second-team all-conference honors thanks a shot put toss of 40-feet, 3.25 and a sixth-place showing. The Aggies' remaining points came from a pair of relay teams that placed sixth as well. The 4x400 relay team of
Lindsey Leisenring,
Brittany Roberts,
Kimmy Haines and
Tia Taylor were clocked at 4 minutes, 31.37 seconds while the 4x800 team of
Tracey Forsythe,
Katie Campbell,
Kimmy Haines and
Tia Taylor were clocked at 11 minutes, 3.17 seconds.
Lebanon Valley College captured the team title with 136 points. Messiah College and Elizabethtown College followed with 98 and 92 points respectively.
