READING (PA) –
Chelsea Neves-Carr scored with 9:09 remaining in regulation as Delaware Valley College salvaged a 1-1, double-overtime tie at non-conference foe Alvernia University.
The tie moved the Aggies' record to 3-11-1 overall and they will wrap up the 2012 campaign on Saturday, October 27 when they travel to Freedom Conference rival Eastern University.
The two teams played scoreless ball for the first 56 minutes of the game before the Crusaders' Kelsey Gill scored off an assist from Bridget Verdel. Twenty-four minutes later, Neves-Carr took a freedom from
Mary Taylor and deposited her third goal of the year.
Both teams had great opportunities in the second overtime. Delaware Valley's
Marianne Morton was just wide to the left post on a breakaway. Minutes later, Alvernia's Rachel Gimber sent a shot off the crossbar.
The Crusaders (8-7-3) outshot the Aggies, 41-8, in the contest, including a 9-1 edge over the two overtimes. They had eight corner kicks compared to three by Delaware Valley.
Julie Burnell kept the Aggies in the game with 15 saves while Colleen Maher had five stops at the other end.
